Latest Update:

The project is substantially completed with shoulder gravel and clean up scheduled for completion by the end of September 2017. 

Older Updates:

The wearing course of asphalt is scheduled for the entire Wallace Road South segment on Wednesday 07/12/2017 6AM-5PM. Paving will begin in the SB lane at the north end of the project near NH Route 101 and progress southerly to the Merrimack Line. The contractor will then pave the NB lane beginning at the northerly end of the project near NH Route 101 and progress southerly to the Merrimack town line. Seek alternative routes or expect significant delays.

As a result of utility pole and transmission line relocation delays, the wearing course of pavement for Wallace Road South and adjacent roads has been delayed. The schedule is revised as follows; the Week of July 5-8, 2017, Continental Paving will begin paving operations on seven roads abutting Wallace Road; Wiggin Road, Rutledge Road, Stage Coach Lane, Benning Way, Elder Williams Road, Alder Way, County Road West. The wearing course of asphalt for Wallace Road from Merrimack Town Line north to NH Route 101 is now scheduled for the week of July 10th. This work is expected to occur over two days and will progress as weather permits. Seek alternate routes or expect significant delays. Upon completion of the roadway paving operations, the Contractor will pave driveway aprons, place shoulder gravel and complete punch list items.

Beginning the week of June 19, 2017, Continental Paving will begin paving operations on seven roads abutting Wallace Road.  Work will begin on Stage Coach Lane and Wiggin Road in preparation for main line work on Wallace Road scheduled to occur over the following two weeks. Work will consist of Asphalt trimming, patching, and binder paving.

Starting week of June 24th  the Contractor is scheduled to pave the wearing course of asphalt on the following roads: Wiggin Road, Rutledge Road, Stage Coach Lane, Benning Way, Elder Williams Road, Alder Way, County Road West, and Wallace Road from Merrimack Town Line north to NH Route 101.  This work will progress as weather permits. Seek alternate routes or expect significant delays.

Upon completion of the roadway paving operations, the Contractor will pave driveway aprons, place shoulder gravel and complete punch list items.  

Older Updates:

The Wallace Road South project is substantially complete and is scheduled for the wearing course of asphalt and final completion in late June after the SAU 25 school year is complete. The project is on budget after adding roadway reclamation and paving to Alder Way and Stagecoach Lane as part the 2017 efforts. 

Cleanup, loading, and seeding operations  between NH Route 101 and Brickmill Road will be ongoing for the entire week.  This section off road will be subject to alternating lane closures Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 4:30 pm.

 

5/1-5/5 – Cleanup, loading, and seeding operations on the shoulder of the southbound lane Between NH Route 101 and Brickmill Road will be ongoing for the week.  

 

 

This project is substantially complete.

The town is currently conducting cleanup and fine grading of road shoulders on Phase IV, from Brick Mill Road to just south of NH Route 101.

The town continues to coordinate utility relocations on this segment of roadway.

Rutledge Road was added to the project and reconstruction is scheduled to be complete the week of Dec. 5

In the Spring of 2017 the wearing course of asphalt will be placed on the entire Wallace South corridor and affected side roads.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The objective of the project is to make Wallace Road a smoother, safer travel way for motorists and other users.

The Wallace Road South reconstruction project will improve 12,700 lineal feet of Wallace Road from just south of N.H. Route 101 to the Bedford-Merrimack town line.

 

Project objectives include drainage and shoulder width improvements. Safety upgrades include guard rail replacements, and intersection site distance improvements at Hancock Drive, Beals Road, Meadow Road, Wiggin Road, Candy Lane, Brick Mill Road and County Road West.


The Town of Bedford prohibits “thru trucking” on Wallace Road, Jenkins Road and Liberty Hill Road.
