LANE CLOSURES ON THE SOUTHBOUND BRIDGE OVER THE MERRIMACK RIVER:

Work to begin on January 7, 2019 on the southbound bridge over the Merrimack River. NHDOT, in conjunction with their contractor, has postponed the daytime lane closures on I-293 SB/Route 101 EB until spring 2019.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces construction work is scheduled to begin Monday, January 7, 2019 on the I-293 southbound bridge over the Merrimack River.

This work is scheduled to be done between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm daily and will require the use of lane closures on the southbound bridge. Electronic message boards will be used to notify the travelling public of the work. This initial bridge pier work is expected to last three months.

This project consists of bridge preservation work on the I-293 northbound and southbound bridges over the Merrimack River and PanAm Railroad in the Town of Bedford and the City of Manchester. It includes deck repair, pier rehabilitation, replacement of expansion joints, a CCTV foundation and pole, and a Smart Work Zone (SWZ) to inform the traveling public.

R.S. Audley Inc. of Bow, New Hampshire is the contractor for the $4.7 million project, which has a final completion date of October 18, 2019.
